Stencil Killer Art

Stencil Killer is a graphic designer and stencil artist working somewhere between vintage advertising, graffiti, punk, and low-brow art.

Beginning with designs built in Photoshop and Illustrator, each piece is transformed through layers of hand-cut stencils, paint, texture, and controlled chaos. The process takes the precision of graphic design and puts it into something much more physical, where accidents and decisions can't always be undone.

Much of the work borrows the polished optimism of 1940s and 1950s advertising, then puts something decidedly less wholesome in the picture: a weapon, a little violence, a femme fatale, or a story that seems to have gone badly off-script. Sometimes dark, sometimes funny, sometimes surprisingly poppy, the common thread is a distinctive graphic language developed through decades of cutting, painting, experimenting, and making things by hand.
